Born and raised in Athens, The National’s Chef Peter Dale draws inspiration from food and wine enjoyed on trips to Europe, while nodding to Mediterranean culinary tradition. In 2012 he was named Food & Wine magazine’s The People’s Best New Chef Southeast.
A candidate for A-CC District 3 Commissioner, Rachel works as public relations director for Avid Bookshop and is Information Coordinator for the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau. Born and raised in Mississippi, she came to Athens for graduate school in the early 1990s, and spent ten years in Monterey, Calif., before moving back home. Her husband, Larry Slutzky, is a flight paramedic currently working in West Africa.
Owner and chief wine steward at Shiraz Fine Wines & Gourmet, she has a national reputation as an authority on food and wine. She’s also the author of Wine101 blog Grapier Wit, and hosts a YouTube Channel (shirazathensga) where she highlights gourmet food recipes and wine pairings.
