Southeastern Young & Beginning Farmer Mixer Monday, March 5 5 - 7 pm Farm 255 Athens, Ga Young and beginning farmers in the southeast, let’s meet up! Join us on March 5 at Farm255 for an inaugural gathering of emerging farmers from across the region, as we launch the Southeastern Young and Beginning Farmers Alliance with a good old-fashioned party. Beer and local farm fare will be provided to snack on, and we’ll round out the evening with a short program about the initiatives affiliated with the farm bill that young farmers need to know about and a survey to take stock of your opinions. Bring a friend or prospective farmer and raise your glass with us to the next generation of farmers! In coordination with Georgia Organics & Slow Food, we — the farmers, chefs and activists of the southeast — invite YOU to connect with your peers, learn from each other, and create momentum in developing the voice of the New Farmer in the Southeast. This alliance will span age groups, regions, states, and conventional as well as organic practices in order to address specific regional objectives with the potential to affect our region’s agricultural promise. At this inaugural event, that we hope will preclude many similar events across our region in the future, we aim to: • Build Organizational Partnerships that will help shape the direction of the group • Exchange Resources • Create Unity • Share in Learning about helpful initiatives and programs • Become Educated about policies that can help strengthen the agricultural community • Gather information on the issues and needs of this broad community to develop an alliance centered around specific regional objectives Numerous other similar groups around the country have begun with great success, and the south is distinctly lacking a localized forum for new agriculturalists. Let’s make that change! RSVP to olivia@farm255.com {but feel free to show up day-of regardless at to whether you’ve RSVPd}

Young and beginning farmers in the southeast, let’s meet up!

Join us on March 5 at Farm255 for an inaugural gathering of emerging farmers from across the region, as we launch the Southeastern Young and Beginning Farmers Alliance with a good old-fashioned party. Beer and local farm fare will be provided to snack on, and we’ll round out the evening with a short program about the initiatives affiliated with the farm bill that young farmers need to know about and a survey to take stock of your opinions. Bring a friend or prospective farmer and raise your glass with us to the next generation of farmers!

In coordination with Georgia Organics & Slow Food, we — the farmers, chefs and activists of the southeast — invite YOU to connect with your peers, learn from each other, and create momentum in developing the voice of the New Farmer in the Southeast. This alliance will span age groups, regions, states, and conventional as well as organic practices in order to address specific regional objectives with the potential to affect our region’s agricultural promise.

At this inaugural event, that we hope will preclude many similar events across our region in the future, we aim to:
• Build Organizational Partnerships that will
help shape the direction of the group
• Exchange Resources
• Create Unity
• Share in Learning about helpful
initiatives and programs
• Become Educated about policies that
can help strengthen the agricultural community
• Gather information on the issues and needs of this
broad community to develop an alliance centered
around specific regional objectives

Numerous other similar groups around the country have begun with great success, and the south is distinctly lacking a localized forum for new agriculturalists. Let’s make that change!
