This Sunday, December 2nd, we can all be reminded how thankful we are for our neighbors at Ciné. Join them in celebrating a successful year and the promise of many more with a special “It’s a Wonderful Ciné Holiday Celebration”. Read the letter below from Executive Director Gabe Wardell for all the details on the all day, free fun. Dear CinéFriends, This past week, we all took time to reflect on things for which we are thankful. Since coming aboard in February as the executive director of Ciné in its first full year as a 501©3 not-for-profit, I’ve been thankful for Athens’ movie lovers. YOU have made this a banner year for Ciné! In 2012, as we celebrated our 5th Anniversary, Ciné showed tremendous growth, with membership nearly doubling, and earned income from the Box Office and Bar expanding at a similar pace! To say “Thank You,” we’re hosting a special event on Sunday, December 2nd called “It’s a Wonderful Ciné!” Here are a few details: We’ll be screening the holiday favorite IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE throughout the day from an archival 35mm print (Showtimes at 2:00p, 4:45p & 7:30p) Admission will be FREE for everyone! (To give back, we’re inviting everyone to bring an unwrapped toy to be donated to Toys for Tots – or you can always make a cash donation to Ciné). Popcorn, holiday punch, and holiday cookies will be FREE all day long in the Ciné Lab. Everyone is invited to “Give the Gift of Ciné!” Who on your shopping list would enjoy a Ciné gift card, or the gift of an annual membership, or a National/Ciné Dinner & Movie package? Additional holiday gifts will be for sale via silent auction–including movie, music and UGA memorabilia, framed posters, and other collectibles. All gift purchases will be wrapped, packaged and ready for pick-up after the show so you have something to give the movie lover in your life on the special day! Also – now’s a perfect time to upgrade or renew your membership – and make a tax-deductible donation to Ciné. Those who saw in the recent cover story in the Athens Banner Herald about digital conversion in the world of cinema, know that Ciné faces a serious technical challenge heading into 2013. (link to article: onlineathens.com) After such a terrific 2012, we are confident that Athens will rise to the occasion by helping us cross the digital divide. Not only will this allow us to continue to thrive, it also guarantees that we can preserve and maintain the 35mm experience! We look forward to celebrating the holidays with you. Thanks for your support and see you at the movies! Gabe Wardell Executive Director Ciné, An Athens Film Arts Institute Initiative

Dear CinéFriends,

This past week, we all took time to reflect on things for which we are thankful.
