1. Does The National have its own parking lot?
We do not have our lot. However, there is plenty of public parking available downtown. During lunch hours, metered street parking (coin or card) or the parking deck on Washington Street are recommended. After 5pm we recommend the paid lot at the Chastain Building - accessible to the left of our building via the driveway by Cine or the Pulaski St. entrance. It’s a $6 all evening Pay-to-Park Lot: Park Mobile Zone 4245.
2. What are your hours of service?
In lieu of listing our closing time, we give our last seating time. That means that you can arrive at our final seating time without feeling rushed or like the kitchen is shutting down. We serve Lunch Wednesday - Saturday with seatings from 11am - 2pm. We serve Dinner Monday - Saturday with seatings from 5pm - 9pm. We are closed on Sundays.
3. Are you reservation only?
No way! Our bar is always first come first serve, and a lovely place to enjoy a full service meal. We additionally hold some tables for walk-ins, but keep in mind that on weekends, reservations tend to be more fully booked.
4. Can you accommodate larger parties?
Our restaurant is small with just one dining room, so parties of 8 or less are typical. If you are interested in options for a party larger than 8 guests, please contact our General Manager Erin Wilson at erin@thenationalrestaurant.com .
5. Does The National offer catering?
We aren’t a full service catering business, but we can discuss our range of options including special groups in the dining room, delivered hors d’oeurves for receptions, private events in the Cine Lab, to-go platters or lunches, and, on occasion, restaurant buy-outs. 6. Do we have to order off of the regular menu or do you offer a wider selection for catering?
Our menu changes often, so we typically work with clients to design a menu that reflects our current in-restaurant offerings. However, we can work with you to discuss your vision and build a menu from there. We also have a few standards that we recommend. 7. Is it possible to place a larger lunch pick-up order?
We love to do these! We recommend our Chicken Salad as our best and most versatile to-go lunch option. With 48 hours notice, we can discuss other options and pricing.
8. Do you have a dress code?
Sure don’t! Come as you are. We are glad to be a gathering space for folks from a casual meal to a big celebration.
9. Where are you located?
We are located at 232 West Hancock Avenue between Hull Street and Pulaski Street (the same block as Little Kings Shuffle Club and Creature Comforts Brewery). We share the historic Recap Plant Building with our local arthouse cinema Ciné - it’s a white brick building with a blue stripe, neon lighting and a metal awning over our patio dining and under The National’s sign.
